Safari In Detail

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. After a brief rest, you will take a city tour starting with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a powerful site providing insight into Rwanda’s history and resilience. After lunch, visit the Inema Art Center and Kimironko Market for contemporary Rwandan art and a glimpse into daily life with local produce, crafts, and textiles.

Return to your hotel for dinner and relaxation. If you’re up for it, Kigali’s nightlife offers a range of options, from lively bars to cultural performances.

Nyungwe Forest National Park in southwestern Rwanda is one of Africa’s oldest and most biodiverse rainforests. Nyungwe Forest is home to over 13 species of primates, with chimpanzee trekking being one of the most sought-after activities.

Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, approximately 5-6 hours away from Kigali. The journey takes you through Rwanda’s stunning countryside, with rolling hills, terraced farms, and traditional villages. Stop at Nyanza to visit the Royal Palace Museum, a reconstructed traditional palace that offers insight into Rwanda’s monarchy and cultural heritage. Arrive at Nyungwe Forest in the early afternoon, check-in at your lodge, then enjoy a guided canopy walk to spot wildlife and take in breathtaking views. Return to your lodge for dinner and relax in the tranquil rainforest surroundings.

Go chimpanzee trekking in the morning after a briefing from your guide. Track the chimpanzees in the forest, listen to their calls, watch them socialize, swing through the trees, and the young chimps play. After the trek, head back to your lodge for breakfast and rest.
After checking out of your lodge, drive to Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s Great Lakes. The 3-4-hour drive offers scenic views of hills and tea plantations. Upon arrival, check-in at your lakeside hotel and relax on the shores of Lake Kivu. Enjoy a sunset boat ride with the option to visit nearby islands or simply soak in the peaceful ambiance of the lake.

Volcanoes National Park, located in the Virunga Mountains, is the crown jewel of Rwanda’s natural attractions and home to the endangered mountain gorillas.

After breakfast, leave Lake Kivu and drive for approximately 3 hours to Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy Rwanda’s scenic landscapes on the way and arrive in Musanze, the park's gateway, to check in at your lodge.

After lunch, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for traditional activities and learning. Return to your lodge for dinner and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trek while taking in the views of the volcanic mountains surrounding the park.

The highlight of your Rwanda tour is here – gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park, an experience of a lifetime. Get an early start with a briefing at the park headquarters before embarking on your gorilla trek, which can last 1 to 5 hours. Your guide will share insights about the flora, fauna, and mountain gorillas as you hike through the forest. Once you find the gorillas, you'll have an hour to observe and photograph these gentle giants as they interact and go about their daily lives—it's a truly magical experience.

After the trek, return to the park headquarters for a certificate, have a packed lunch, and then drive back to Kigali. Arrive in Kigali in the late afternoon. Depending on your flight schedule, you can do some last-minute shopping or explore more of the city before being transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure.
