Nkuringo’s description: The UNESCO-designated Bwindi
Impenetrable Forest National Park is seen from the Nteko Ridge, where the Bwindi
Gorilla Lodge is situated. At 2161 meters above sea level, it is completely
mosquito-free and offers breathtaking views of the Great Albertine Rift Valley,
the world-famous Bwindi forest, the Kashasha River Valley, the beautiful
Virunga Volcanoes, and the forested hill known locally as Nkuringo. Each of the
twelve specially designed houses offers
the peace and quiet of the rainforest, the ambiance of a mountain lodge and
Ugandans’ famously kind hospitality.
As
a carbon neutral lodge, Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge takes pride in its green
credentials and operates as such through a number of initiatives, such as solar
energy and rainwater harvesting. The lodge’s primary features include a bar, a
coffee shop with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, and a small
restaurant with delicious prepared dishes and freshly baked bread. In addition
to offering an excellent starting point for mountain gorilla trekking and the
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest’s wildlife, Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge is located
in the center of the Nkuringo neighborhood and lets visitors experience the
rich and lively local culture.

The 12 rooms at the lodge are divided
into three categories: the Garden Cottages, the Virunga Terrace rooms, and the
2-Bedroom Villa. With en suite bathrooms, a front terrace, and views of the
stunning Virunga Volcanoes, the six Virunga Terrace rooms are quite reasonably
priced. The four Garden Cottage accommodations are tucked away amid the verdant
grounds. Each uniquely designed cottage features a big veranda, solar power,
and a fireplace for the colder nights. Each of the two bedrooms in the villa
may be connected, making it perfect for families or groups of four. A sizable
veranda with stunning views of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest joins them as
well. Every room features a fireplace for chilly nights and a sitting area.
